Last minute World Book Day costume ideas
Re-use Halloween costumes
Old Halloween costumes could seriously help you out.
Spider costumes can make a for a great Charlotte from Charlotte’s Web or you can recycle a pointy hat for the Worst Witch.
Props are your friend
A simple prop can make a huge difference.
For example, stick your son in a pair of cords and send him on his way with a piece of card with “Wonka’s Golden Ticket” printed on it and you have an instant Charlie and the Chocolate Factory costume.
Go for the fairy-tale
Fairy-tale characters are can be pretty easy to create.
If your daughter has a red dress, add a red scarf to turn her into Little Red Riding Hood, while a blue dress partnered with a white apron can make a super-quick Alice in Wonderland.
Go for Mary Poppins
A simple white blouse paired with black skirt, hat and umbrella = Mary Poppins in a jiffy.
Where’s Wally
A pair of oversized glasses paired with a stripped jumper and bobble hat makes for a super quick Where’s Wally.
Use their uniform
If things get pretty desperate, perhaps try using your child's school uniform as the costume.
By adding accessories or tweaking how they wear it, you can transform the outfit into a Hogwarts or St Trinian’s style uniform.
