Thank you, next! Pete Davidson has weathered his fair share of heartbreak — but he’s still a hopeless romantic at heart.

“I love love. That’s how I grew up. Just my mom, my sister — I didn’t have a man around the house, so I was just like, ‘When am I going to find my Princess Charming?’ That’s all I’ve ever wanted,” the comedian said during a May 2021 appearance on The Breakfast Club. “[If] I’m into you, I’m really into you.”

In addition to rising to superstardom during his time on Saturday Night Live, Davidson has made headlines for his string of high-profile romances over the years. After calling off his whirlwind engagement to Ariana Grande in December 2018, the King of Staten Island star has been linked to the likes of Margaret Qualley, Kate Beckinsale, Kaia Gerber, Phoebe Dynevor, Emily Ratajkowski and more.

In October 2021, Davidson began dating Kim Kardashian after the reality star hosted an episode of SNL. The pair were together for nine months before calling it quits in August 2022.

Davidson’s public romantic endeavors with Hollywood’s elite has often caused him to be the brunt of public criticism.

“You get to date a famous woman and everyone’s delighted, but when I do it the world wants to punch me in the throat,” the Dirt star quipped to costar Colin Jost — who is married to Scarlett Johansson — during a December 2019 episode of SNL. “What’d I do? I mean, if I’m your type of guy that your daughter or mother is into, then trust me, I’m the best-case scenario. There are a million guys who look like me and I’m the only one with a job. It’s like me or Tyga.”

Despite cracking jokes about his relationship ups and downs, Davidson has also been candid about the toll commentary about his personal life takes on his mental health. In March 2023, the Bodies, Bodies, Bodies star revealed that being made fun of on SNL — while he was still a cast member of the NBC sketch series — was a “difficult” thing to endure.

“When it’s your own show, and I’ll be sitting in the back watching the cold open and [it’s] topical political humor or whatever in the culture, and they’re making fun of you and you gotta walk out and do a sketch next and hit your mark — the show just made fun of you, so why are they going to laugh at you? They just dogged you,” he said during an episode of the “Real Ones With Jon Bernthal” podcast,” adding that the experience made him feel like a “loser.”

However, even with his personal life becoming part of the pop culture zeitgeist, Davidson remains a “hopeless romantic.”

“My love language, when I’m in a relationship, is I treat the person I’m with like a princess,” he told Paper Magazine in November 2019. “I try and go as above and beyond as possible, because that’s what you’re supposed to do? If you’re in a relationship with someone, you’re just supposed to make that person feel as special as possible.”
