At the 2013 X Games Munich, he won a platinum in skateboarding, beating his favorite, Pedro Barros. Caples qualified second after Barros in the qualifying skateboard park at Austin X Games 2014, finally finishing first in the final. During the street skateboarding event, he was knocked out of qualifying by Ryan Sheckler, failing to make it into the top six. Most recently, he ranked 18th at the 2019 CBDMD Peahi Championship in Maui.
