THEY are huge gay icons and with their very first feature film about to hit the big screen, who better to lead this year’s London Pride than Patsy and Eddy!
Actresses Jennifer Saunders and Joanne Lumley arrived in character as PR guru Edina Monsoon and fashion magazine director Patsy Stone to opening the parade.
The ladies cut the big red ribbon to officially kick off proceedings and then joined the Absolutely Fabulous float and had a boogie with dancers dressed up as their characters.
They then stopped and posed for a photo call to promote the upcoming movie before leading this year’s Pride parade through London.
And it’s not the first time they have attended an event in character – in November last year the ladies put on a raucous display as their alter-egos as they switched on the Christmas lights at fashion designer Stella McCartney’s London store.
Jennifer, 57, and Joanne, 70, are back as the hell-raising, pill-popping, Bolly-loving party girls as Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie gets set to hit cinemas across the UK next Friday.
The sitcom first aired in 1992 and went on to make five series with three specials including a three-parter to mark the show’s 20th anniversary.
The film reunites the original cast from the hit BBC show – Joanna, Jennifer, Julia Sawalha as Eddy’s daughter Saffy, June Whitfield as her mother and Jane Horrocks as Eddy’s assistant Bubble.
